Lance Benson's "no legs, no problem" motto will find him among thousands of runners in next month's New York City Marathon. Like many athletes, he wakes up early to exercise before work. But there is one thing that makes Benson a little different from most marathon runners: "I have my own little motto," he says. "It's, 'No legs, no problem.'" New Jersey volunteers start hospice care (2009/11/16)

Helping patients, who are terminally ill, to live out their last days in dignity is the most important concept of palliative care. In the United States, Tzu Chi volunteers from New Jersey have started serving in a local hospice, to provide physical, emotional and spiritual support to residents, who are facing life-limiting illnesses. After receiving specialist training, the volunteers went to the Peggy Coloney's House, to give residents an early Christmas surprise. Palliative care training An important part of learning how to care for terminal cancer patients is how to put on and take off rubber gloves; and how to transfer someone into a wheel chair also takes skill. Volunteers learn about palliative care This hospice training program, which started in April, gives Tzu Chi volunteers a better understanding of patients and how to care for them. Tzu Chi volunteer, Liu Biyue:"A hospice helps patients see out their lives with dignity. Of course it needs a lot more volunteers." Here is my first ever story and it probly sucks but its the only thing that could come out of my mind... ____________________ I felt sharp jabbing pain digging into my abdomen, my parents were downstairs fighting again! I wadded down the stairs, trying not to slipp and kill myslef. I managed to slip outside into the car the only car i knew how to drive. I pulled out of the drive way when I felt another sharp Jabbing pain, it was about 15 minutes away from the last one. I was 5 minutes away from the exit to get to the hospital, I swerved into the other lane barely catching the wheel, before the next car zoomed by. I walked slowly into the hospital "Help! can someone Help me please my baby is comeing!," I screamed as someone asserted me to a room in a wheel chair. "Well get a doctor in here right away, baby doll." a nice nurse ressured me as the contractions got closer and closer.
